About

Welcome.

Oxherding is Fun is my blog to discuss the adventure of moving from an amateur lover and creator of art, a naturalist and philosophy junkie to a professional artist who bases my art on the natural world with a creative spark lit from my spiritual quests.

Art

My professional site is www.oxherderarts.com.  Today its just a placeholder for what will be.  Someday I will fill it up and am now amassing a body of work to do just that.  But frankly I have not decided which medium to make my own.  I like many…

photography – easily the most accessible and the easiest to become proficient.

painting – probably the most rewarding and most difficult to master.

printmaking – printmaking calls me too but it is the one medium that I have the least experience as it takes so much time.

writing – I really enjoy writing — wordsmithing a poem, imaging conversations between my grandfathers, etc.

Answers usually seem to appear if we are open to them as they hit us over the head.  For now I will just keep exploring and day by day get better as an artist.

Nature

There is nothing more special for me than to be immersed in nature.  I love to garden upon our land and hike to get really deep into the wild places.  When you do get to hike into the natural world it permeates your body; takes over your soul.  You get to stare into the face of a creativity that is beyond us.

Spiritual

After much searching, now I simply practice yoga daily, meditate often on our Buddha-nature and usually have a crucifix with Jesus hanging around my neck.  I spent years searching and combining spiritual ideas and practices but in the end, simpler is better.  I do know one thing… you and I have a Buddha-nature within us, we have the spark of divinity from Krishna, we have a soul filled with grace from Jesus.  Take good care of yourself and those close to you.

Take care,
