DJ, Thanks for visiting my blog and adding a comment. So many of my Flickr and local photography friends have a blog that I figure I'll try it out myself. Now all I have to do is Facebook, Twitter, Stumber etc... to catch up. I guess one step at a time, huh...

Way to go, Don! I send good energies to you for your talent, creativity and bravery. Keep listening to your heart.

Like you, I spent many years working for the corporate world. I always wanted to be an artist, so I compromised with my parents and became a corporate graphic artist. For 20 years I dealt with incredible deadlines and never-ending, non paying overtime. With constant travel, I learned to drink often with the travel crew. Finally, I burned out and said enough of this living in fear of job "security". I am now following my heart. I'm not rich, but happy.

Thank you for the inspiration, Don!

I like this guy! What I think the HDR process has done for this pig lies in micro-contrast and detail. You need only look at his hair to see this... could it have been captured as well with a single shot? (I don't think so.) That, and this type of, umm, appropriate HDR processing more closely creates a scene as our eyes would see it.

Without a doubt, higher dynamic range sensors will be available in a few years -- someone's making them already -- but I think I'll miss playing around with all the post-processing options! Automatic is not always better.

That's a great shot and it absolutely paid off that you waited for the light to get just right. Well done DJ!
